Frazee Neurosurgical Head Model
When Excell started this head model, the expectations
of our client were very high. They wanted to create an accurate representation
of the human head to allow neurosurgeons to practice their techniques. The head
of the Neurosurgical Department at UCLA Medical Center consulted us on the
intricacies of the different surgeries. After researching different urethanes,
we found a material that resembles the characteristics of the human brain. We
made silicone molds and then cast the different parts of the brain in color.
Each piece was then hand detailed with veins, arteries, and aneurysms. The head
can be used over and over to practice or demonstrate different techniques of
neurosurgery. |
